About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Scrub Scout to join our Operating Theatre team on a permanent basis. This role is essential in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care across a range of surgical specialties. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider perioperative team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scrub and scout duties in accordance with best practice and infection control standards
- Prepare operating theatres, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
- Anticipate surgical team needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation
- Ensure patient safety, dignity, and comfort at all times
- Participate in theatre cleaning and restocking between cases
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse
- AHPRA
- Recent experience as a Scrub Scout in an operating theatre
- Sound knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
Desirable Criteria
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties
- Postgraduate perioperative qualification
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts or on-call rosters
