Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.
In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.
Job Description
As a key part of our Villawood facility leadership team, our Health Services Lead will bring a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:
- Leading a multi- disciplinary team of clinicians, overseeing the daily operations of the primary health care services we provide, including medical, nursing, mental health, and allied health services. This includes assisting in the deployment and scheduling of your team to ensure adequate coverage and continuity of care
- Developing change initiatives and leading the implementation of the solutions to deliver sustainable, safe, high quality, accessible, person-centred services
- Working with other operations leaders to develop and implement healthcare policies and procedures to ensure compliance with national health standards and detention protocols
- Ensuring health services are culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse populations
- Identifying and managing clinical and operational risks, including the safety and security of healthcare delivery within the detention setting.
- Proactively identifying and pursuing opportunities to engage stakeholders, resolve issues and facilitate improved service delivery and health outcomes for detainees including detention facility management, external healthcare providers, legal representatives, and other government agencies to coordinate services, building strong relationship with these stakeholders
This is a permanent full-time role – Monday to Friday. The facility presently houses <400 detainees and our operating (onsite) clinic hours are 0700-2100.
