Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.
In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees
As the Primary Healthcare Nurse, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering care that aligns with best practice standards and clinical guidelines. Your role will focus on improving the health outcomes and overall wellbeing of detainees who access healthcare services. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide person-centred, high-quality, and safe care.
Employment Type: Casual
Work Days & Hours: Monday to Sunday – No night shifts!
- AM: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
- PM: 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm
How You’ll Make an Impact!
- Working in collaboration with the primary health care team to ensure a multidisciplinary, coordinated and integrated approach to service delivery.
- Participating in the assessment, planning and implementation of care based on individual detainee needs incorporating a holistic approach to primary health care service delivery.
- Undertaking a wide range of clinical duties including but not limited to immunisations, blood collection, wound dressings, health assessments, care planning, medication administration, health promotion and education, ensuring care is evidence-based and delivered using clinical guidelines and practice to underpin competency.
- Providing proficient, evidence-based chronic disease management.
Let’s talk about you!
You will be AHPRA registered, have relevant qualifications and at least five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an operational setting that provides care for patients with health needs. Strong communication and clinical skills and a commitment to person-centred care will position you for success in this role.
Experience working within a detention or correctional setting will be highly regarded.
